The Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, A Belmond Train, Europe has announced a new itinerary in 2026 that marks a milestone for the historic luxury train.
On May 4, 2026, the train will embark on a three-night route from Paris to the Amalfi Coast. This new rail journey is the first time the iconic train will connect the French capital with southern Italy.
Highlights of the Paris-Amalfi Coast itinerary include a Champagne welcome celebration, an exclusive guided tour of Casa del Larario Regio V in Pompeii for Grand Suite guests, a live cooking demonstration in Caruso, and a private boat tour to Positano. Travelers can book Historic Cabins, Suites, or Grand Suites, and onboard service includes 24-hour steward support and all meals.
The new journey is part of the “Villeggiatura by Train” series, which are hotel-rail packages departing from Paris that combine the Simplon-Orient-Express with multi-night stays at Belmond properties. In addition to the Amalfi Coast debut, Belmond will also offer new rail-linked itineraries ending in Venice and Florence, as well as the return of the Paris to Portofino journey following the reopening of Splendido, A Belmond Hotel, Portofino.
“We are thrilled to introduce the Amalfi Coast to our Italian routes, continuing to connect our legendary train with our Belmond hotels,” said Pascal Deyrolle, general manager of the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. “This journey offers guests a unique way to experience one of Italy’s most celebrated coastlines — with its cliffs, villages, and sea views revealed in a way that only the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express can provide.”
