Dromoland Castle Hotel
Dromoland Castle, the historic 500-acre estate hotel in Ireland, will close for extensive renovations in November 2026 and reopen in June 2027.
The popular 16th-century property in County Clare will undergo its largest transformation since becoming a luxury hotel 63 years ago. The redevelopment will overhaul the hotel’s accommodations, public spaces, wellness facilities, culinary concepts, and cultural programming.
Notably, the project will introduce a 3,200-square-foot, glass-enclosed Atrium, debuting in July 2027 at the center of the property. This new addition will reimagine the iconic courtyard as a year-round gathering space for morning coffee, afternoon tea, and evening cocktails accompanied by live music.
There will also be several new and reimagined accommodations, bringing the total number of rooms at Dromoland Castle to 121, up from 96, including two private Lodges for long-term stays, as well as two new room categories:
The brand-new Walled Garden Collection will encompass 13 new accommodations, just a 5-minute walk from the castle, housed within converted former stables, that will be ideal for large groups or multigenerational families.
The Heritage Collection will introduce 16 guestrooms and five suites directly across from the castle’s main entrance, occupying an entire floor in a wing, with some featuring private balconies.
The hotel’s wellness, dining, and cultural programming will all be enhanced upon reopening. Highlights will include new glass-fronted saunas facing the property’s private lake, revived classic tableside dining experiences, and new hands-on workshops celebrating Irish traditions.
