JW Marriott Mount Kenya Rhino Reserve Safari Camp is now open in a region of Kenya known for its rhino conservation efforts.
The new property is set within the Solio Game Reserve in Laikipia, Kenya, a private, 45,000-acre conservancy that has long been dedicated to protecting the rhino population. It is home to one of Africa’s largest populations of both black and white rhinos, as well as many other wildlife species.
Each of the new JW Marriott safari camp’s 19 tented suites, including one two-bedroom suite, features outdoor living areas with private decks and plunge pools, as well as roll-up canvas walls for easy indoor-outdoor access.
The property offers a signature restaurant, outdoor dining spaces, a Map Room with details about the area, library and game rooms, and a retail boutique featuring locally crafted items. As a wellness-focused camp, there is also garden-led food and beverage and an array of restorative treatments at Spa by JW.
Guests can embark on expert-led daytime and nighttime game drives. Daytime can bring sightings of rhinos, leopards, lions, waterbuck, zebras, Thomson’s gazelles, and more than bird species. Nighttime wildlife can include leopard, lion, and spotted hyena, as well as some rare nocturnal animals like serval and caracal.
The camp also offers guided walking safaris, cycling excursions, and bird watching. Guests have access to professional Canon camera equipment and resident photographers to help them capture all their journeys.
