Eyeing Hospitality Sector Expansion, Amadeus Acquires TravelClick
by Jessica Montevago /Amadeus has agreed to acquire hospitality provider, TravelClick, for $1.52 billion from private equity investment firm Thoma Bravo.
New York City-based TravelClick provides cloud-based solutions, including an independent and mid-size hotel Central Reservation System (CRS) and Guest Management Solution (GMS), as well as business intelligence and media solutions to hotel chains such as Hilton, Marriott, and Crown Hotels.
“The addition of TravelClick’s solutions to the Amadeus portfolio will create a hospitality IT leader providing a broad range of innovative technology to hotels and chains of all sizes across the globe,” the company said.
Amadeus, which operates global travel booking systems and offers check-in services for airlines, said the acquisition will allow them to serve a wider range of hotel companies.
“While we have already made strong progress with the large chains, TravelClick gives us access to the mid-chain and independent hotel segment that makes up almost three-quarters of the market,” said said Francisco Perez-Lozao, senior vice president, strategic growth businesses, at Amadeus in a statement. “We can now serve the entire industry with a very broad portfolio of solutions and we are looking for significant growth in the years ahead.”
The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter, following regulatory approvals.
