ContikiU Positions Agents to Connect With Millennials
by Jessica Montevago /After 55 years of selling travel to 18- to 35-year-olds, Millennial-focused tour operator Contiki launched its first travel agent training program in April, with the goal of giving travel agents the tools they need to work with.
Melissa Bryant, a travel sales specialist at AAA in Apex, NC, recently completed the program. She said the course gave her a better understanding of the product, from what is offered on the tours to how they are conducted, helping prepare her to position it with clients in the next largest travel demographic.
She also learned about exclusives she was unaware of, like the Basement in London, a meeting place and hang-out for Contiki travelers. A designated team is there to help with any last-minute needs before check-in; luggage storage allows guests to sightsee London without being tied down; and free WiFi and Netflix is available for those who want to rest up before the trip.
Bryant said for a niche market like Millennials, a training course helps you better see the trip through their eyes.
Contiki is celebrating the launch of the e-learning platform with special incentives for agents who book tours from now through December.
After completing the ContikiU learning path, which includes an introduction to Contiki plus Europe, Asia and Latin America modules, agents will be eligible for:
–Book three passengers: earn a Contiki travel kit
–Book five passengers: earn a $150 Amazon gift card
–Book seven passengers: earn a Contiki backpack filled with swag
