G Adventures Will Head to the Trans Bhutan Trail Later This Year

After a more than two-year absence, G Adventures will bring back Bhutan, Australia, and New Zealand tours starting in September.

The tour operator’s return to Bhutan includes visits to the historic Trans Bhutan Trail, which is reopening for the first time in 60 years. G Adventures will be the first operator to bring a group to the trail when its inaugural, and already sold-out, departure leaves on Oct. 2, 2022.

G Adventures will run two different Bhutan itineraries into 2023—an 11-day Camp the Trans Bhutan Trail trip and a 12-day Highlights of Trans Bhutan Train. Both tours will bring guests to the Trans Bhutan Trail, which runs 250 miles on the edge of the Himalayas.

“Trails have historically connected remote communities and helped distribute much-needed income to local people as travelers move across the landscape. Our new trips cover the highlights of the trail as hikers traverse forests and meadows and travel through rural settlements around the Dzongs,” Yves Marceau, vice president of product for G Adventures said.

Both tours will include an average of 3 to 4 hours of hiking daily, along with meals and stays at homestays, hotels, and local guest houses.

The other tours, added to the fall schedule, include more Australia and New Zealand options for travelers among the more than 1,400 G Adventures is offering this fall. Both New Zealand and Australia officially opened their borders earlier this year.
