Delta Air Lines announced Thursday that it will restart service from John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) in April, becoming the first U.S. carrier to announce its return.
Delta will operate seven weekly flights between the two cities starting April 1, using its Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.
The carrier said the decision came after “a comprehensive security review, conducted in close coordination with government and private-sector partners.” It also noted that it has implemented “additional precautions” to ensure the safety of both its crew and customers.
Delta, like other U.S. carriers, suspended flights to Israel following the October 2023 attacks. It resumed service in June 2024 but reversed that decision less than two months later. While other international carriers, including some under Lufthansa, have announced plans to return to Tel Aviv, Delta is the first U.S. carrier to do so.
American Airlines currently says it won’t resume flights into Israel until at least September 2025, while United says it will keep the flights suspended until it deems it safe to return.
