United Airlines to Fly Only Nonstop Service to Singapore
United Airlines will become the first airline to offer nonstop service between San Francisco and Singapore, starting June 1. The flight will be the longest scheduled flight operated by any U.S. airline, at 8,446 miles. It will take 15 hours and 30 minutes eastbound, and 16 hours and 20 minutes westbound.
The route will leave San Francisco at 11:25 p.m. each day and arrive in Singapore at 6:45 a.m. two days later. The return flight will leave Singapore at 8:45 a.m. daily and arrive at San Francisco at 9:15 a.m. the same day.
United vice president of Atlantic and Pacific sales Marcel Fuchs said the new route was made possible by the acquisition of a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner.
As part of the announcement, United also said it will terminate service between Singapore and Tokyo/Narita starting June 2.
