WestJet Economy travelers can now book an “Extended Comfort” upgrade for flights on 737 and 787 aircraft.

The Extended Comfort option is available to any guests who book Economy cabin fare (Basic, Econo, or EconoFlex), and can be purchased via WestJet Manage Trips or through the WestJet app. The Canadian airline launched the program on April 10.

Described by WestJet as a “first-of-its-kind” product for the airline, the Extended Comfort option includes the following:
•    Seats with extra legroom (3-6 inches)
•    Priority boarding (Zone 2)
•    Early access to overhead bin space
•    Quicker exit upon arrival
•    A distinct section at the front of the Economy cabin
•    A complimentary alcoholic beverage during inflight service (based on flight duration, aircraft type and destination)

“The addition of Extended Comfort reaffirms WestJet’s commitment to providing a diverse range of products to enable guests to choose what best aligns with their travel preferences and budget,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Group’s executive vice-president and chief commercial officer. “Conveniently located at the front of the economy cabin, guests will benefit from an enhanced experience that is aligned with WestJet’s values of affordability and accessibility.”

Extended Comfort will replace WestJet’s Economy Cabin Preferred Seating option. Those who previously purchased a Preferred seat will receive the Extended Comfort upgrade at no additional cost.
