American Airlines Flight Attendants Are Preparing for a Strike
by Daniel McCarthy /The union that represents American Airlines flight attendants is preparing to strike.
The Association of Professional Flight Attendants (AFPA) said on Friday that a strike could be coming amid failing negotiations with American Airlines. AFPA said that while it can’t disclose the details of the negotiations, “we remain apart on the key economics of the deal plus the company’s complete unacceptable demand for scheduling concessions.”
AFPA now awaits word from the National Mediation Board (NMB), which it says will make a “last ditch” effort in the next two weeks to avoid a strike.
There is no timeline for the strike, however, AFPA is still advising members that “all flight attendants need to prepare for a strike,” which could come after a mandated 30-day cooling off period.
American is still dealing with the fallout of its failed NDC-AAdvantage move, which the carrier made a U-turn on last week in a major victory for the travel trade.
