American Airlines Planning New Grab-and-Go Lounge at Charlotte Douglas International

American Airlines is planning to open a new lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), the airline’s second-largest hub, sometime later this summer.

It’s not a traditional Admirals Club; instead, it’s a “Provisions by Admirals Club” lounge, a space designed for travelers on the go, the airline said. United Airlines has started opening similar spaces at its hubs — it opened its second grab-and-go lounge at Houston Bush Intercontinental Airport in February — and American’s Provisions spaces appear to be an answer to that trend.

The club will offer an on-the-go experience for travelers wanting to grab a sandwich, salad, snack, or fruit while transiting Charlotte Douglas. The space will also have American representatives who can help with travel assistance, and high-top standing tables for those wanting to eat inside.

For access, the same rules will apply as other Admirals Clubs. Domestic travelers can access the lounge through an Admirals Club membership, qualifying Oneworld status, or the Citi / AAdvantage Executive credit card. International travelers will need AAdvantage status. There’s also an option to purchase a day pass for $79 or 7,900 AAdvantage miles.

While the Charlotte Douglas location is the first, the expectation is that American will add more of these grab-and-go concepts in other others soon.
