Carnival Corp. will bring its Fathom brand’s Dominican Republic social-impact experiences to its other cruise brands at Amber Cove.
Starting this month, guests on six other Carnival Corp. brands besides Fathom will get the chance to participate in a social-impact excursion, giving them the chance to take part in activities that benefit the local community, such as a hands-on chocolate experience at a women’s cooperative and a volunteer experience at a recycled paper and crafts entrepreneurship.
Seven Carnival Corp. brands will participate—AIDA Cruises, Carnival Cruise Line, Costa Cruises, Fathom, Holland America Line, Princess Cruises and P&O Cruises UK.
Fathom president Tara Russell said the decision was made because of “overwhelmingly positive” feedback from Fathom guests and the cruise line’s Dominican partners.
On these sailings, social impact excursions will be added as options alongside traditional Amber Cove shore excursions, and guests will be able to purchase them the same way. There are currently more than 40 excursion options offered at Amber Cove.
Carnival Corp. said the Fathom experience expansion won’t stop at Amber Cove—the company is currently exploring other global opportunities to bring the social-impact experience onboard and onshore across its brands in the coming months.
