New Low-Cost Canadian Carrier Swoop Releases Winter Schedule
by Daniel McCarthy /Swoop, the new low-cost Canadian carrier from WestJet, released its 2018/2019 fall and winter schedule today, and it includes a brand new route for the airline.
Swoop, which kicked off operations just one month ago, will serve five Canadian markets between October 2018 and April 2019: Halifax, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Abbotsford.
Its schedule includes daily service between Edmonton and Hamilton; Edmonton and Abbotsford; and Hamilton and Abbotsford. It will also fly between Hamilton and Halifax, and Hamilton and Winnipeg, daily except for Saturday.
Brand new for Swoop is service between Abbotsford International Airport and Edmonton International Airport, which starts this week and will be offered three times daily. That service will help support a growing demand for flights out of Abbotsford International, which has seen “unprecedented growth in passenger volumes and flight options,” according to Abbotsford Mayor Henry Braun.
According to the airline, Canadians have responded warmly to Swoop. “Swoop has been endorsed by Canadian travelers in the way that matters most, they are buying seats,” said Senior Leader of Revenue and Pricing Michael Claeren. He noted that the airline is seeing “strong sales going into the fall and full aircraft throughout the summer.”
