by Daniel McCarthy /Hilton’s Conrad brand finally has a foothold in the Golden State.
Conrad on Wednesday opened Conrad Los Angeles, the first California property for Conrad Hotels & Resorts.
“We are excited to expand Hilton’s West Coast presence with the debut of the first Conrad Hotels & Resorts property in California, one of our largest growing markets in the U.S. This is a monumental occasion as we open the doors to this incredible property amid downtown Los Angeles’ development boom and we are looking forward to offering guests an unrivaled, luxury hospitality experience in this sought-after destination,” said Danny Hughes, executive vice president, and president, Americas, Hilton.
The hotel sits within the Grand LA building in Downtown Los Angeles, steps from the Walt Disney Concert Hall and Grand Park, and close to the city’s Chinatown and Koreatown. Frank Gehry, one of the U.S.’s most famed architects, designed the building with help from Tara Bernerd and Partners.
In total, the new hotel offers 305 rooms that feature a mix of pale oak floors and natural linen walls, in-suite dining, a pen wardrobe, an L-shaped sofa, and a mini-bar. The rooms range from standard guest rooms to presidential suites, including The Grand Avenue Suite, which includes a private terrace with views of Los Angeles along with a private dining room with a six-seat table, a living room with a built-in bar, a walk-in wardrobe, and more.
The hotel’s food and drink options are highlighted by two original food and beverage concepts from Chef Jose Andres and ThinkFoodGroup, including Agua Viva, a chic rooftop restaurant that offers a menu of Latin and Asian flavors, and San Laurel, a 10th-floor eatery overlooking the Disney Concert Hall that blends Spanish flavors with local, fresh California ingredients.
Other offerings on-site include the 7,000 sq. ft. Conrad Spa Los Angeles which includes a wellness bar, an enlightenment lounge, infrared sauna, a Charieni Welnamis wavetable, and recovery cabins. There’s also 12,000 sq. ft. of meeting space that can accommodate up to 300 guests, including a 4,800 sq. ft. ballroom.
The hotel adds to a slate of recent openings for Conrad including in Las Vegas, Tulum, Sardinia, and Nashville.
