Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and, this year, New York City and Cancun are the top domestic and international destinations that lovebirds have chosen for their romantic getaways.

The findings come from travel insurance company, Allianz, which reviewed Americans’ travel plans for roundtrip flights for two to domestic and international destinations the weekends immediately before and after Valentine’s Day.

Within the U.S., New York City claimed the top spot for the third year running. Los Angeles, which ranked number two this year, jumped from fifth place last year. Las Vegas (#10) fell from second place in 2018. Newcomers to the top 10 domestic list include Miami (#5) and Phoenix (#9). Rounding out this year’s list are: Seattle (#3), San Francisco (#4), Chicago (#6), Atlanta (#7) and Boston (#8).

Internationally, Cancun is first on the list for the fifth year in a row. Americans leaving the country to celebrate are headed to our neighbors in both the north and south – with four Mexican and two Canadian destinations dominating the list: Cancun (#1), San Jose del Cabo (#3), Mexico City (#7) and Puerto Vallarta (#8) in Mexico; and Vancouver (#5) and Toronto (#6) in Canada.

The remaining top 10 international spots are warm weather locales: San Juan, Puerto Rico (#2); Nassau, Bahamas (#4); Oranjestad, Aruba (#9); and Montego Bay, Jamaica (#10).
