Sandals and Beaches Resorts will now provide guests with free insurance coverage for medical expenses through the end of the year.
The new “Travel Protection Plan – Insurance Is On Us” program, powered by Trip Mate, will be purchased on behalf of guests as part of their travel reservation for bookings now through Dec. 31, 2020.
The plan covers any medical expenses in the Caribbean islands as part of a treatment for illness, condition and/or accident, with COVID-19 treated the same as any other sickness. It also includes any medical expenses in the nearest facility incurred as part of the treatment for a sickness or injury incurred during the resort stay and transportation by an ambulance company to and from the hospital. The maximum benefit is $100,000 per person.
According to Sandals, while insurance coverages are subject to an exclusion for pre-existing conditions, this exclusion is waived as long as traveler was not disabled from travel at the time the plan was purchased on their behalf.
If a guest’s travel plans are delayed due to quarantine requirements, the Travel Protection Plan will reimburse expenses for additional accommodations, meal and local transportation, with a maximum benefit of $200 per day, per person and up to $2,800.
Once treatment is received and evacuation is approved by the Program Medical Advisor, transportation would be covered for the return home, with a maximum benefit of $100,000 per person.
There is no minimum or maximum age limit for eligibility and access to assistance.
Sandals has also added a new Cancellation Protection Benefit, so “travelers making vacation plans to the Caribbean can feel confident thanks to these two new added perks to our Book With Confidence program” said Adam Stewart, deputy chairman of Sandals Resorts International.
Through the end of the year, guests will be able to cancel their vacation at least 31 days before arrival and receive a full refund on the land portion of their vacation without penalty. Guests cancelling 30-15 days before arrival will receive a combination of a 50% refund and 50% travel certificate for future travel to any Sandals or Beaches Resort within 12 months. Travelers also have the additional perk of canceling within 14 days and up to the day of arrival for a travel certificate valid for 12 months from original travel date.
Sandals recently announced it’s rolling out popular sales tools for travel advisors, including Fam trips, webinars, and media and marketing assets.
