Air Canada is fine-tuning its winter 2026-27 sun schedule, increasing frequencies on select routes to Mexico and the Caribbean while scaling back others and cancelling a seasonal service from Toronto.
According to the latest schedule update published by Aeroroutes, dated October 11, the airline has made several changes to its winter network, including adjustments to flight frequencies, aircraft assignments and launch dates.
The changes affect departures from Calgary, Halifax, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver, with some routes receiving additional capacity during peak winter travel periods.
More flights to Cancun, Aruba & Jamaica
Among the notable changes is Air Canada’s returning service between Calgary and Cancun, which will resume December 11 with five weekly flights operated by Air Canada Rouge using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The route was last served in April 2023.
Meanwhile, Calgary’s returning service to Puerto Vallarta, launching December 10, has been reduced from three weekly flights to two. That route was also last operated in April 2023.
From Montreal, Air Canada will increase its planned service to Aruba from once to twice weekly beginning February 14, 2027. The route launches December 6 using Airbus A220-300 aircraft.
Ottawa will also see additional winter capacity to Jamaica.
Air Canada’s returning Ottawa–Montego Bay route, launching December 6, will initially operate once weekly before increasing to twice weekly on January 7, 2027. Flights will use a mix of Airbus A220-300 and A321XLR aircraft, Aeroroutes reports.
From Halifax, the airline’s returning Montego Bay service will launch December 3, operating once weekly with an Airbus A220-300 instead of the previously planned Boeing 737 MAX 8. The route was last served in April 2016.
Vancouver sees mixed changes
Air Canada is also adjusting its winter schedule from Vancouver, with both increases and reductions planned.
Flights between Vancouver and Liberia, Costa Rica, will begin December 13 with two weekly departures, increasing to three weekly between December 21 and January 4, and again beginning March 15, 2027, Aeroroutes reports.
The route had previously been scheduled to operate twice weekly throughout the season.
Meanwhile, Vancouver’s new service to Puerto Escondido, Mexico, launching December 7, has been reduced from two weekly flights to one.
Both routes will be operated by Air Canada Rouge using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Previously announced routes remain on track
Despite the latest adjustments, several previously-announced additions to Air Canada’s winter sun network remain unchanged.
These include:
– Edmonton–Montego Bay: Once weekly from December 7, marking the route’s return after more than 15 years.
– Halifax–Bridgetown, Barbados: Once weekly from December 17.
– Montreal–Santo Domingo: Twice weekly from December 10.
– Quebec City–Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe: Once weekly from December 17.
– Toronto–Mérida, Mexico: Twice weekly from November 21.
– Vancouver–Mazatlán: Twice weekly from December 15.
– Vancouver–Monterrey: Three times weekly from December 3.
– Winnipeg–Montego Bay: Once weekly from December 7, returning after a hiatus dating to March 2019.
– Winnipeg–Punta Cana: Once weekly from December 3, returning after more than 13 years.
Toronto–Ixtapa service cancelled
It appears that one route won’t be returning this winter: Toronto Pearson–Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo, Mexico.
According to Aeroroutes, Air Canada has removed the seasonal service from its 2026-27 schedule.
The route had been scheduled to operate once weekly aboard an Air Canada Rouge Boeing 737 MAX 8 from October 29, 2026, through April 29, 2027.
Aeroroutes‘ updates excludes Guatemala and South American routes.
As with all airline schedules, frequencies and aircraft assignments remain subject to change.
