Air Canada has postponed the resumption of its service between Canada and Cuba to November 1, 2026. The original potential resumption date was early May.
“We will communicate directly with customers who booked a trip that was due to take place between May 1 and October 31, 2026 to offer them alternative travel options, including the possibility of changing their destination,” the airline said on its website.

On February 9, the carrier (as well as other airlines in the country) suspended its service to Cuba due to the ongoing shortage of aviation fuel on the island. The airline says it took the decision following advisories issued by governments (NOTAMs) regarding the unreliability of the aviation fuel supply at Cuban airports.
The crisis is due to the loss of Venezuela as an oil supplier and amidst threats from the U.S. administration. Earlier this month, Cuba’s leadership said it expects the shortage to persist at least until April.
Cuba ranks sixth among international destinations for Canadians, with more than 300,000 airline seats scheduled for the first quarter of 2026 alone.
