Air Canada Updates Pet Policy

by Marsha Mowers  March 19, 2025
Air Canada Updates Pet Policy

Air Canada has updated its pet policy to mandate that all pets travelling in cabin be in soft-sided carriers, starting June 1, 2025.

After this date, hard kennels will no longer be accepted on board any flights operated by Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge, or Air Canada Express. If your itinerary includes a flight operated by another airline, travellers are asked to visit their website directly to review their pet travel policies.

In a press release, Air Canada said the reasoning for the update is that “the space under the seat varies from aircraft to aircraft, and hard-sided carriers may not fit on all our planes.”

“This new policy helps us make sure you and your pet are safe and comfortable on board, no matter which aircraft or seat you’re travelling in,” said the carrier.

For more details, visit travelling with your pet.
