VIDEO: Bahamas Deputy PM Hon. Chester Cooper Celebrates Massive Increase in Canadian Lift
by John KirkThe Bahamas is on a roll. In 2024, air arrivals to the beach-blessed archipelago increased by 50%. And Canada is a big part of that growth, as Travel Market Report’s John Kirk found out in a video interview with the Hon. Chester Cooper, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism.
“Bahamas has always been a very popular market for Canadians and the airlines are responding to the demand. We’re seeing Air Canada increase its capacity to the Bahamas by 50%. In addition to flights from Toronto and from Montreal, we’re going to have Ottawa, we’re going to have Halifax. This is exciting for us,” Cooper said.
“We also have other great partners – WestJet flying from Montreal and Calgary, and we also have Sunwing going into Freeport consistently. We’re excited that we’re able to get our guests to the Bahamas in under three hours in most cases, seamlessly. Halifax and Ottawa have always cried out for direct service.”Click the image above to watch the full interview.
