YYZ-YVR is North America’s Busiest Domestic Air Travel Route For 2nd Year

Most observers would probably guess New York-Los Angeles as North America’s most-travelled domestic air route. But for the second year in a row, the honour goes to Toronto-Vancouver.
Aviation data platform OAG reports that there were 3,655,423 scheduled seats between Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), beating out the top U.S. route, New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), with 3,431,159 scheduled seats.
The YVR to YYZ route took top position in 2024 as well, with 3,498,835 scheduled seats, edging out the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) to Orlando International Airport (MCO) route, which boasted 3,474,713 scheduled seats.
Internationally, the numbers are dwarfed by routes in Asia. South Korea’s Jeju International Airport (CJU) to Gimpo International Airport (GMP) route took the top spot, recording 14,384,766 scheduled seats in 2025.
The second and third busiest domestic routes were both in Japan: Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport (CTS) to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport (HND), with 12,099,499 seats, and Fukuoka Airport (FUK) to HND, with 11,496,706 seats.
The top cross-border airline route for 2025 was Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), which saw 6,832,683 scheduled seats.
