Carnival Cruise Line has announced that Mike Julius, vice president of North American field sales, has retired after 36 years with the company.

Julius joined Carnival in the late 1980s and over the decades became a familiar figure to many travel advisors. In his role, he oversaw field sales across North America, helped establish and grow sales teams, and was frequently recognized for his work with the travel agency community.

“Mike’s legacy can be measured in many ways, as he helped us build high-performing sales teams and played a key leadership role driving growth, serving as a champion for travel advisors and as a mentor and friend to many in the industry,” said Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line.

“He has been an outstanding ambassador and is someone who played a pivotal role as Carnival grew to become the World’s Most Popular Cruise Line, and we wish him well as he moves into a well-deserved retirement.”

A Carnival representative told TMR that Julius will remain available in an advisory capacity to chief commercial officer Ken Tate until Nov. 30, 2025. At the time of writing, the cruise line has not released a succession plan.

Julius’ departure comes as Carnival continues its expansion plans, including new ship deliveries scheduled through 2033 and the launch of its exclusive Celebration Key destination in the Bahamas earlier this year.

Julius is the second long-tenured member of the Carnival sales team to retire this year. In March, Adolfo Perez, Carnival Cruise Line’s senior vice president of global sales and trade marketing – and a 43-year veteran of the company – announced he was retiring.
