Small-ship expedition cruise company Heritage Expeditions has announced the appointment of expedition travel veteran Meg Murgatroyd to the newly-created role of Sales Director Americas.

The family-owned and operated company says Murgatroyd’s hire strengthens its growth strategy and deepens its commitment to the North American market, following the recent announcement of the maiden season aboard new 130-guest expedition ship Heritage Discoverer.

“Meg is one of the most respected sales leaders in the North American expedition travel trade, and we are delighted to welcome her to the Heritage Expeditions family,” said Commercial Director Aaron Russ.

“Meg’s appointment represents an important investment in strengthening our relationships with travel advisors and trade partners across the region. Her deep industry relationships, commercial expertise and proven ability to build successful trade partnerships make her the ideal person to lead this next phase of our growth in this market.”

Based in Toronto, Murgatroyd will lead Heritage Expeditions sales strategy, travel advisor engagement and trade partnerships across Canada and the United States, reflecting the company’s long-term commitment to strengthening its presence in one of its most important international growth markets.

“Returning to expedition cruising feels like coming home,” Murgatroyd said. Earlier in her career she spent several years as Global Partnership Director for Quark Expeditions.

“What drew me to Heritage Expeditions is it has never lost sight of what authentic expedition travel is all about. Built by conservationists, biologists and adventurers, the company has spent more than 40 years inspiring travellers to experience some of the world’s wildest places with purpose and authenticity.”

With the arrival of Heritage Discoverer and an expanding global program, there has never been a more exciting time to introduce new North American travellers and trade partners to Heritage Expeditions. I’m looking forward to working alongside our trade partners to create new opportunities together, and to inspire more travellers to experience expedition cruising at its very best.”

Murgatroyd’s extensive industry experience spans expedition cruising, escorted touring, supplier management and retail travel, where she has consistently helped leading travel brands strengthen their market presence through strategic collaboration and advisor engagement.

Travel advisors and industry partners across Canada and the United States can connect with Murgatroyd at meg@heritage-expeditions.com.
