Princess Cruises is going big in the Americas for 2028-29, unveiling more than 250 departures that will take travellers from the Caribbean and Canadian Maritimes to the Amazon River and Antarctica.
The newly-announced program spans North, Central and South America, with itineraries ranging from four-day West Coast getaways to a new 64-day voyage circumnavigating South America.
Among the highlights are Princess’ return to the Amazon River for the first time since 2014, a new port of call in Canada’s Îles de la Madeleine, and the return of roundtrip Hawaii sailings from Vancouver.
The cruise line is also expanding opportunities for longer stays in port, including overnight visits to Quebec, Cabo San Lucas and select South American destinations.
“There is an incredible diversity found across the Americas, and our 2028–2029 season gives guests an extraordinary range of ways to experience it,” said Jim Berra, Princess Cruises’ chief commercial officer, in a statement.”
New Canadian port, Vancouver departures
For Canadian travellers and travel advisors, the upcoming season brings several notable additions.
Princess will introduce Îles de la Madeleine (Magdalen Islands) in Quebec’s Gulf of St. Lawrence as a new port of call in 2028.
The destination joins a Canada and New England program featuring 17 departures aboard Regal Princess and Caribbean Princess.
The ships will operate five itineraries ranging from seven to 14 days, visiting New England, Atlantic Canada and the St. Lawrence River.
Seven Classic Canada & New England voyages will also include an overnight stay in Quebec.
On the West Coast, Princess is bringing back roundtrip Hawaii cruises from Vancouver, alongside departures from Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The Hawaii program includes 14 departures visiting Oahu, Maui, Kauai and Hawaii Island, with extended late-night stays in Honolulu included on every sailing.
Vancouver will also serve as a departure point for select California Coast itineraries, part of an 18-departure program featuring voyages of four to seven days.
Amazon River return
One of the biggest developments for 2028-29 is Princess’ return to the Amazon River, marking its first sailings in the region since 2014.
The South America and Antarctica program will feature 13 departures across 11 itineraries aboard Majestic Princess and Coral Princess, visiting 38 destinations in 16 countries.
Highlights include 17-day Antarctica and Patagonia voyages, 15-day Cape Horn and Glaciers of Patagonia itineraries, and Amazon River scenic cruising with a call in Santarém, Brazil.
The centrepiece is a new 64-day Circle South America voyage aboard Coral Princess, combining Antarctica, the Amazon River and a transit through the historic Panama Canal locks.
Guests will also have opportunities to extend their vacations inland with Princess Cruisetours to Peru’s Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, or Iguazú Falls on the border of Brazil and Argentina.
Caribbean leads with 141 departures
The Caribbean will account for the largest share of Princess’ Americas program, with 141 departures across 49 itineraries ranging from five to 17 days.
Sailings will depart from five gateways: Fort Lauderdale, Port Canaveral, San Juan, New York and Barbados.
The program covers 24 destinations across 20 Caribbean islands, including St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Cozumel, the ABC Islands and Puerto Rico.
Select itineraries will also visit exclusive beach destinations, including Celebration Key in the Bahamas, Isla Tropicale in Roatán, Honduras, and RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay in the Bahamas.
Extended port visits are planned for destinations such as Aruba, Barbados, Bonaire and Curaçao.
Panama Canal, Mexico & California Coast
Princess’ Panama Canal program will include 12 departures on nine itineraries ranging from 16 to 20 days.
Five ships — Coral Princess, Crown Princess, Island Princess, Ruby Princess and Star Princess — will operate ocean-to-ocean voyages connecting the Atlantic and Pacific.
The program includes full transits through both the Panama Canal locks and the newer Neopanamax locks, with additional calls in Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.
In Mexico, Princess will offer 35 departures from Los Angeles and San Francisco, with itineraries ranging from seven to 11 days.
Ports of call include Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, Manzanillo and La Paz.
All 10-day Baja Peninsula and Sea of Cortez sailings will feature an overnight stay in Cabo San Lucas.
Meanwhile, the California Coast program will offer 18 departures, with late-night visits to San Diego, San Francisco and Victoria.
Princess says guests will have more than 50 opportunities during the season to sail beneath San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge.
More time ashore
Across the 2028-29 program, Princess is emphasizing its More Ashore experiences, which provide additional time in destinations through late-night and overnight port calls.
Along with Quebec, Honolulu and Cabo San Lucas, extended stays will be available in select South American cities, including Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro and Lima.

The 2028-29 Americas program is now open for booking.
