EXCLUSIVE VIDEO: Club Med Cancun at 50: Jacinda Lowry Talks Milestones & What’s Next with John Kirk
by John KirkFifty years after helping put Cancun on the tourism map, Club Med is celebrating a milestone anniversary with a fresh new look, global expansion plans and a renewed focus on Canadian travel advisors.
Travel Market Report Canada was on location at Club Med Cancun recently, where 40 travel advisors from Ontario and Quebec gathered for a special FAM celebrating the iconic all-inclusive resort’s 50th anniversary.
And while the festivities wrapped up with Club Med’s signature white party, the message was clear: this 75-year-old French hospitality brand isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
The Cancun property has undergone an extensive refresh, introducing redesigned ocean-view accommodations, a new infinity pool, updated bars and lounges, and expanded recreational facilities, including a water park and 10 pickleball courts.
Its upscale Exclusive Collection also continues to attract travellers looking for a more elevated all-inclusive experience.
The renovations are part of a much bigger picture.
Club Med has its sights set on growing from approximately 60 resorts to 100, with new properties planned in destinations including South Africa, Borneo, St. Croix and Quebec’s Mont-Tremblant.
Canada is playing an increasingly important role in that growth. Now Club Med’s third-largest market, the country continues to deliver strong results, particularly in Ontario, where business has grown approximately 20 per cent annually over the past two years.
Travel advisors remain central to the brand’s strategy as it looks to expand its footprint and attract new clientele.
In this on-location video interview, Jacinda Lowry, associate vice president at Club Med Canada, joins Travel Market Report Canada’s John Kirk to discuss the milestone anniversary and what the brand’s growth plans mean for Canadian travel advisors.
