Panamá is launching Tourist Insurance, an initiative that reinforces the country’s commitment to providing care and support to international visitors from the moment they arrive.
Funded by the state through the Panamá Tourism Authority, the benefit provides free coverage to foreign tourists and Panamanians residing abroad who legally enter the country. The policy applies during the first 10 days of their stay and is activated automatically upon receiving the immigration stamp, with no paperwork or additional costs for the traveller.
“We want those who visit Panamá to feel supported from the moment they arrive in the country,” said Gloria De León, Panama’s Minister of Tourism.
“That is why every international visitor entering through our participating airports will have access to free medical coverage during their first ten days of stay, with no additional paperwork. This initiative reinforces our commitment to providing a safe, reliable, and high-quality experience for those who choose us as their destination.”
A Commitment to Destination Competitiveness
Tourist Insurance is part of the National Government’s strategy to strengthen Panamá’s competitiveness as an international tourism destination.
To activate the program, the Cabinet Council approved a credit of up to B/. 3,500,000.00 in favor of the Panamá Tourism Authority (ATP), allocated to implement the policy, whose administration was awarded to Compañía Internacional de Seguros, S.A.
