Freddie who?
Freddie Marsh, obviously!
While the much-loved travel industry professional recently announced his departure from Hyatt Inclusive Collection, he’s not quite ready to close the book on his career in travel.
In an exclusive update shared with Travel Market Report Canada, Marsh revealed Monday (Nov. 2) he is reviving his former company, Freddie Marsh Travel Marketing, to take on the role of sales manager, Canada, for El Cid Resorts on a part-time basis.
The move comes as Marsh’s equally-adored husband, Dave Emery, prepares to retire after more than 17 years representing the Mexican resort company in Canada.
It’s a changing of the guard that will see Marsh take over an account that has played a significant role in both careers.
“For me, this is a full-circle moment,” Marsh told TMR Canada. “El Cid Resorts was one of my very first accounts when I moved to the supplier side of the industry in 2005, joining the legendary Yehudi Altman at Trips Marketing. Having the opportunity to represent El Cid Resorts again feels like a perfect way to begin this next chapter.”
Freddie’s Not Finished
Marsh originally operated Freddie Marsh Travel Marketing from 2009 to 2014 before joining Playa Hotels & Resorts (which, in June 2025, was acquired by Hyatt) full-time.
Now, he’s bringing the business back, but with a slightly different approach to work-life balance.
“Bringing it back lets me stay connected with the industry and the travel advisors I’ve enjoyed working with, while creating more time for Dave and our own adventures,” he said.
Dave Emery Closes 17-Year Chapter
Meanwhile, Emery is closing a significant chapter of his own.
After more than 17 years as sales manager, Canada, for El Cid Resorts, Emery is retiring and winding down his multi-line representation company, David Emery Travel Marketing.
His long association with El Cid Resorts has been a defining part of his travel industry career.

“One of my accounts that has been with me during my entire travel industry journey is El Cid Resorts,” Emery said. “I will always value the friendships I established with my El Cid colleagues, and the love I now have for Mazatlan, where El Cid’s home is.”
Marsh praised his husband’s dedication to the resort company and the relationships he has developed with Canadian travel advisors over the years.
“He has put so much care and dedication into supporting El Cid Resorts and its travel advisor partners,” he said. “I’m incredibly proud of him and grateful for the relationships and foundation he has built.”
A Familiar Face For Canadian Advisors
The transition marks a return to familiar territory for Marsh, who has spent more than two decades building relationships across Canada’s travel industry.
El Cid Resorts is a family-owned Mexican hospitality company with more than 50 years of history, operating beachfront properties in Mazatlán, Riviera Maya and Cozumel.
Its resorts cater to families and couples, offering spacious accommodations and experiences ranging from golf and fishing to snorkelling, diving and exploring local Mexican culture.
Marsh says the opportunity will allow him to continue promoting a brand he knows well while maintaining the relationships that have defined his career.
He also expressed gratitude for the response from industry colleagues following his recent departure from Hyatt Inclusive Collection.
“I want to thank the travel community for the incredible outpouring of love and support since I announced my departure from Hyatt Inclusive Collection,” said Marsh. “The thoughtful messages, kind words and shared memories have meant so much to me. Those relationships are a big part of why I’m not ready to say goodbye to this industry.”
