Join Canada’s Leading B2B Travel Industry News Publication

Travel Market Report Canada is expanding its national editorial team and is inviting applications from experienced communicators, travel professionals, journalists, writers and storytellers interested in becoming Travel Market Report Canada Correspondents.

We’re building a coast-to-coast network of contributors who can represent TMR Canada by covering travel industry events in their local markets while helping us deliver timely, high-quality editorial coverage to travel advisors and industry professionals across the country on a contract basis.

Correspondent Opportunities Available In

We’re currently seeking correspondents in Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, Calgary, Edmonton, Ottawa and Halifax, and other major Canadian markets. If you’re located in another city with an active travel industry community, we’d also love to hear from you.

What You’ll Cover

As a Travel Market Report Canada Correspondent, you’ll attend travel industry events on assignment and produce professional editorial coverage for publication. Assignments may include supplier events, product launches, trade shows, conferences, networking receptions, destination presentations, airline announcements, hotel and cruise events, tourism board functions and industry association meetings.

Your role is to report on what happened, capture the key announcements and presentations, highlight notable attendees and industry developments, and provide a selection of quality photographs from the event. Professional photography is not required—high-quality smartphone images are perfectly acceptable. Stories are generally expected to be filed within 24 to 48 hours following the event.

Compensation

Correspondents are paid up to $250 for each local event assignment. In addition to local coverage opportunities, contributors may also be invited to cover international conferences, destination media events, familiarization (FAM) trips and out-of-country press trips. Compensation for travel assignments is adjusted to reflect the scope of the assignment.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for individuals who are professional, reliable and genuinely interested in the travel industry. Successful correspondents are strong writers with excellent attention to detail, comfortable interviewing industry executives and suppliers, able to meet editorial deadlines, and capable of taking quality event photography using a smartphone. While previous experience in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or the travel industry is certainly an asset.

How to Apply

Please send us your city and province, a brief overview of your background, along with a writing sample—published or unpublished. If you’ve previously covered events or have examples of your photography, we’d be pleased to review those as well. If you’re interested in being considered for international conferences, media events or FAM trips, simply let us know in your application.
