ASTA Launches ‘Vacation Do Over’ Contest

Planning a vacation for yourself can be hard, and things don’t always go as planned. Have you ever wished you could just hit the reset button on a DIY vacation? Well, the American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA) wants to offer travelers the chance at a redo.

Vacation-goers don’t have to do everything themselves. They can easily avoid costly disasters and booking mistakes by working with a travel advisor. To illustrate this point, ASTA is seeking participants to share some of their worst travel disasters for the chance to win the trip of their dreams, valued at up to $10,000. And best of all, this time, every aspect of the vacation will be planned by one of ASTA’s expert travel advisors.

“We kicked this idea around for a year, how we could best show the distinction between booking it on your own and using the services of a professional travel advisor,” said Zane Kerby, CEO of ASTA. “We finally settled on this competition as a way to both collect information about people who’ve had bad experiences, and also turning it around and making it a positive by offering deserving individuals a redo.”

The contest rules are simple:

  1. Contestants fill out the online submission form found on TravelSense.org by July 19.
  2. Follow TravelSense.org on Instagram or Facebook.
  3. Share one of our “Vacation Do Over” posts on your Instagram or Facebook pages.

The winner, who will be decided by a committee of ASTA staff members, will be announced on Aug. 1, 2019. While the campaign will certainly convert one traveler, ASTA hopes the traffic it generates to TravelSense.org will bring many more conversions and business for advisors.

“Not everything that glitters on the internet, is gold. And who better than an ASTA-trusted travel advisor to help guide you through [the travel planning process],” said Kerby.
