Aurora Expeditions Lowers Age for Children Permitted on Its Cruise Ships

Aurora Expeditions has lowered the age of children permitted onboard from 8 to 6.

“Some of life’s most meaningful lessons are learned when we step outside the classroom and experience the world for ourselves,” said Katie Malone, chief marketing officer at Aurora Expeditions. “A child may read about a whale, a glacier, or a remote community in a textbook, but seeing and experiencing these places can create a much deeper sense of curiosity, understanding and responsibility.”

“By bringing generations together through shared exploration, we hope to create lifelong family memories while inspiring young travelers to care for the extraordinary places, wildlife and cultures they encounter.” she added.

Though children 6 and older are now permitted to sail with Aurora, certain expedition activities may be subject to a different minimum age due to safety requirements. Additionally, parents or legal guardians must accompany children during all off-ship activities unless otherwise advised by the Expedition Team.

To encourage more families to book, Aurora has also launched an all-new Family Discount program, with 50% off the best available fare for up to two children (aged 6 to 12 years) or one teenagers (aged 13 to 15) when sailing with two adults in one cabin. (The discount is 25% when up to two children or two teenagers are traveling with one adult in one cabin.)

Family discounts are subject to cabin availability and may be withdrawn or amended at any time.
