Cruise Lines Helping Fund ASTA Memberships

Royal Caribbean and Carnival Cruise Lines have joined forces with the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) to sponsor $20,000 worth of ASTA dues.

ASTA and Royal Caribbean are offering National Association of Career Travel Agents (NACTA) members $100 off their first year of a two-year membership, on a first-come, first-serve basis, for new ASTA memberships. The sponsorship fund could cover 1,000 NACTA members. Similarly, Carnival is offering $10,000 for new members to join ASTA.

This means NACTA members and new ASTA members can join ASTA for only $99 in their first year, and renew at $199 in their second year.

In a statement, ASTA said it “will continue to work alongside our industry suppliers to create membership programs to enhance the supplier-agent relationship, making sure that all agents can have access to ASTA’s network of resources and benefits.”

Today’s announcement builds on Carnival’s recent record of support for ASTA and the agency community. Earlier this year Carnival Corporation funded ASTA’s independent study, “Best of Both Worlds: Quantifying How Travel Agents Save Consumers Time and Money.” Detailed findings of the study, conducted by TNS Global, are available on ASTA’s website.
