Introduced in 2008 with MSC Fantasia, MSC Yacht Club was created to bring a true luxury experience to a mega cruise ship. Guests seeking a more private experience without sacrificing the benefits of sailing with a contemporary cruise line can pay a premium for this “ship-within-a-ship” experience: luxury accommodations, exclusive venues, and 24-hour concierge service.
Over the years, MSC Yacht Club has evolved into a cornerstone of the cruise line’s business strategy. The cruise line is in the process of refurbishing its Musica Class ships to add Yacht Club, as well as upgrading the MSC Yacht Club Restaurant across its fleet of Fantasia Class ships. In 2027, MSC Yacht Club will make its World Cruise debut.
Whether you’re selling MSC Yacht Club for the first time or looking to deepen your expertise, here’s everything travel advisors need to know about the line’s luxury ship-within-a-ship concept.
MSC Yacht Club in a Nutshell

MSC Yacht Club offers a private and intimate space within a larger cruise ship. Yacht Club guests have access to exclusive areas, including a dedicated restaurant, the Top Sail Lounge, a private sun deck and pool, and, on sailings that visit Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the private Ocean House Beach. In most cases, the Yacht Club spaces are all grouped together; however, on the refurbished MSC Poesia, the Yacht Club restaurant is several decks lower than the rest of the exclusive spaces and designated staterooms.
Designed as an all-inclusive luxury experience, Yacht Club includes Wi-Fi for up to two devices per guest, the Premium Extra beverage package, and access to the thermal area at the MSC Aurea Spa.
Service is one of Yacht Club’s biggest differentiators. Guests receive priority embarkation and disembarkation, dedicated entertainment seating, expedited assistance at the Yacht Club concierge desk, and invitations to exclusive onboard events such as cocktail receptions and an afternoon tea.
Every Yacht Club suite also comes with 24-hour butler service and access to a dedicated concierge team. Beyond making dining reservations and booking shore excursions, the butler and concierge can help with everything from arranging late-night snacks to resolving onboard issues, allowing guests to bypass the lines at Guest Services.
What Are the Yacht Club Accommodations?

MSC Yacht Club accommodations vary from ship to ship, but there are typically three main types of suites: inside, balcony and multi-room suites. On MSC Poesia, for example, guests can choose from an Interior Suite, Deluxe Suite (balcony), Two-Room Grand Suite, and Royal Suite with Whirlpool Bath. Newer and larger ships offer additional high-end options. On MSC World America, suite categories include the Interior Suite, Deluxe Suite, Duplex Suite, Duplex Suite with Whirlpool Bath, Royal Suite with Whirlpool Bath and Owner’s Suite with Whirlpool Bath.

Regardless of category, Yacht Club suites are designed to offer a more premium experience than standard staterooms. They are generally larger and include upgraded amenities such as a spacious closet, a Nespresso coffee maker, fully stocked minibars, and other upscale touches, like organic toiletries.
This is true even of the Interior Suites, which feature similar designs as their larger counterparts, just on a smaller scale. These staterooms are typically priced higher than a standard balcony cabin elsewhere on the ship, but the fare includes benefits such as Wi-Fi, the Premium Extra beverage package, and access to all of the exclusive Yacht Club amenities.
What Are the MSC Yacht Club Exclusive Venues?

The Yacht Club includes the Top Sail Lounge, the Yacht Club Restaurant, the Sun Deck Bar and Grill, and a private deck. These spaces are all keycard controlled, with entry restricted to Yacht Club guests.
The Top Sail Lounge is the low-key standout of the Yacht Club. While the elevated accommodations are nice and the restaurant is markedly better than the main dining room, this lounge was a personal highlight during our sailing on MSC Poesia. It’s a lush, comfortable space that is bright and airy, with plenty of room between seats so it never feels crowded or loud.
The lounge is an excellent spot to escape the hustle and bustle on busy sea days, and a relaxing place to enjoy an after-dinner nightcap. Guests can take in scenic views during the day and piano performances in the evening. On our Alaska sailing aboard MSC Poesia, the panoramic windows offered fantastic views of the coast, and it wasn’t uncommon to spot whales from inside the lounge.

The Yacht Club’s two exclusive dining venues are the Yacht Club Restaurant and the outdoor Sun Deck Bar and Grill. As mentioned above, MSC is in the process of updating its ships to unify the Yacht Club Restaurant across the fleet. Apart from the updated aesthetics, however, the experience is essentially the same: full-service, à la carte dining for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The restaurant has a similar atmosphere and dress code to the ship’s main dining room. Most guests dress smart casual, although on Gala Night many diners opt for full formal wear. Aside from breakfast, the menus change daily, allowing guests to dine there throughout the voyage while enjoying a variety of dishes. The food quality is excellent—on par with, or possibly exceeding, MSC’s specialty steakhouse, Butcher’s Cut.

The outdoor Sun Deck Bar and Grill offers a more casual, mini-buffet-style experience. It’s open throughout the day, covering the periods between meals when the restaurant is closed, while also serving breakfast. The offerings are an improvement over the main buffet, and the outdoor setting is pleasant. While the selection is relatively limited, the quality is excellent, making it an ideal spot for a light meal. A bar also serves hot and cold beverages throughout the day.
Finally, the Yacht Club includes a private outdoor deck where guests can relax on loungers or in cabanas and enjoy an exclusive pool and/or whirlpool, depending on the ship.
What Are the Off-Board Benefits of MSC Yacht Club?

Beyond its exclusive accommodations and venues, MSC Yacht Club includes a number of VIP perks designed to make the cruise experience as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Guests receive priority embarkation and disembarkation, allowing them to bypass many of the lines encountered by other passengers.
The priority treatment extends to shore excursions as well. When it’s time to leave the ship, a butler escorts Yacht Club guests off the vessel, allowing them to skip ahead of the security line before bringing them directly to their excursion meeting point. For first-time cruisers—or anyone nervous about navigating a busy port—it’s an excellent peace-of-mind benefit and one of Yacht Club’s most underrated perks.
Yacht Club guests also have access to exclusive shore excursions created specifically for Yacht Club passengers. These small group tours cover a range of interests, from culinary experiences to intimate artisan workshops. Travel advisors can book these excursions on behalf of their clients.
On sailings that visit Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Yacht Club guests also enjoy access to the private Ocean House Beach. This exclusive stretch of shoreline features dedicated beach amenities and food and beverage service, providing a quieter, more upscale beach experience than the island’s public areas.
What Experiences Are Exclusive to MSC Yacht Club?

Those who book Yacht Club staterooms have access to exclusive areas onboard the ship. With that comes access to several exclusive experiences as well.
Throughout the sailing, Yacht Club guests are invited to special onboard events, including a welcome cocktail toast and an afternoon tea party. Guests may also be invited to presentations about Explora Journeys and have the opportunity to meet the ship’s captain during exclusive Yacht Club events. These smaller gatherings provide an opportunity to socialize with fellow Yacht Club guests in a more intimate setting than the rest of the ship.
The Top Sail Lounge also hosts live music throughout the cruise. On our MSC Poesia sailing, a grand piano was the centerpiece of the lounge, with regular performances of contemporary hits creating a relaxed atmosphere during the afternoons and evenings.
Which MSC Ships Have Yacht Club?

Since debuting aboard MSC Fantasia in 2008, MSC Yacht Club has expanded to nearly every new ship the cruise line has introduced. The luxury ship-within-a-ship concept is now available across MSC’s Fantasia, Meraviglia, Seaside, and World classes, making it an option for much of the fleet.
MSC Cruises has also begun retrofitting older ships to add Yacht Club. MSC Magnifica became the first Musica Class ship to receive the concept following a 2025 drydock, while MSC Poesia debuted its new Yacht Club ahead of its 2026 Alaska season. MSC Musica and MSC Orchestra are also slated to receive Yacht Club as part of future refurbishments.
The only ships without Yacht Club are the four Lirica Class vessels—MSC Lirica, MSC Opera, MSC Armonia, and MSC Sinfonia. MSC has not announced plans to add Yacht Club to those ships, likely because of their smaller size and age; all four vessels are now more than 20 years old.
What “All-Inclusive” Really Means on MSC

While MSC Yacht Club is promoted as an “all-inclusive” experience, there are several aspects of the cruise that require an additional fee. Specialty dining is not included—although with the quality of the food and service in the Yacht Club restaurant, you may not feel the need to dine elsewhere.
The beverages are, generally, included. Unlike some beverage packages on other cruise lines, cafe drinks like lattes and espresso are included and widely available at lounges and restaurants. Unsurprisingly, high-end spirits and bottles of wine are not included in the Premium Extra beverage package, and the Venchi gelato bar is also an upcharge.
In-room, travelers can enjoy an assortment of bottled beverages in the minifridge, as well as a welcome bottle on the first day. One surprising omission is the in-room minibar snacks: guests can enjoy all the bottled cola, iced tea, and beer they desire, but snacks such as nuts, chips and chocolate bars incur an additional charge if consumed.
Other services like laundry and beauty or barber treatments are an additional fee. Paid onboard experiences like wine tastings are also not included in Yacht Club.
Is Yacht Club’s Service “Worth It”?
Whether earned or not, MSC Cruises has developed a mixed reputation among American travel advisors. Back in 2022, Dori Saltzman, senior editor at Travel Market Report, wrote an article on why travel advisors should consider selling MSC that identified concerns about customer service as one of the factors deterring advisors from working with the cruise line.
Yacht Club addresses this fear, promising elevated service for its guests. While our own experience with service on our recent MSC Poesia sailing was mixed, the service from Yacht Club itself was excellent. Not only were staff professional, courteous, and attentive, but several members went above and beyond for guests. James in the Top Sail Lounge went hunting to find gluten-free salty snacks for our celiac passenger, and made a point every time he saw us to bring some over. Faiyaz Shaikh, the executive sous chef of the Yacht Club Restaurant, personally reassured us of what dishes could be made celiac-safe, and was extremely generous with his time.
Whether or not your clients think the increased cost of Yacht Club is “worth it” will come down to their own personal preferences and priorities; however, for those who would really benefit from high-touch support during the cruise, the Yacht Club can’t be beat (at this price point).
Is MSC Yacht Club Kid-Friendly?
There is no age restriction for MSC Yacht Club. In fact, we saw plenty of families enjoying the Yacht Club spaces during our sailing on MSC Poesia. The Two-Room Grand Suites and Duplex Suites are particularly well suited for families because their layouts offer the adults some much-needed privacy. That said, families traveling with very young children may be hesitant about the balcony access. Some ships, such as MSC Fantasia, also offer dedicated family suites without balconies.
Like all MSC Cruises guests, Yacht Club travelers can book babysitting services for an additional fee. In terms of location, Yacht Club’s position near the ship’s pools and sundeck may appeal to families. However, it is typically located on the opposite end of the ship from the kids’ clubs, meaning parents should expect a bit of a walk when dropping off or picking up their children.
Helpful Tips for Booking MSC Yacht Club

Getting the most out of Yacht Club: Yacht Club is designed to offer as much of the cruise experience as possible within its private enclave. While there’s plenty to enjoy throughout the rest of the ship, don’t feel like you need to leave Yacht Club to get your money’s worth. Between the Top Sail Lounge, exclusive restaurant, nearby spa, private sundeck, and butler service, it’s easy to spend an entire sea day without venturing outside the enclave.
Wi-Fi: Wi-Fi is limited to two devices per person, and once a device is signed in, it cannot be swapped out—even if you log out. For example, if you bring a Kindle, a laptop and a smartphone, you’ll have to pay an additional fee if you want to use all three devices during the sailing.
MSC’s digital media service is a lesser-known perk that offers more than 200 daily newspapers, magazines, and other publications. Keep in mind that using the service requires connecting a device to the ship’s Wi-Fi, so it will occupy one of your two device slots; when choosing which two devices you want to go online with, make sure to consider everything you want to be able to do on the sailing.
Dietary needs: Guests with allergies should check in with both their butler and the concierge desk at the beginning of the sailing to explain their dietary requirements. Even after doing so, however, always double-check before eating anything. While on MSC Poesia, despite repeated conversations about one guest being celiac, we still received chocolates and late-night snacks during turndown service that contained gluten. Having said that, the overall Yacht Club experience was excellent for managing allergies. It was by far the easiest place on the ship to get gluten-free meals, and the service was incredibly accommodating. Executive Sous Chef Faiyaz Shaikh personally attended to us at each meal and even prepared custom gluten-free desserts.
Entertainment: One of the perks of Yacht Club is a section of reserved seating in the large theater. We recommend travelers scope out these seats early in the sailing. Just because seats are reserved for Yacht Club guests doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll like where they’re located, so it’s helpful to know your options before the first show.
While the Top Sail Lounge is a fantastic spot to relax, there’s not much there in terms of recreation. Don’t expect trivia nights or loud music in this venue. We recommend guests consider bringing small games (like a pack of cards) or books to read to make best use of this space.
MSC Aurea Spa: Yacht Club guests receive a 10% discount on spa treatments. The MSC Aurea Spa is lovely, offering an assortment of services from facials to deep tissue massages. In our experience, however, guests should expect a fairly aggressive sales pitch for spa products following their treatment, which sours the pampering somewhat.
Group bookings: Yacht Club venues and excursions are exclusive to Yacht Club guests. This means that when booking groups, if some travelers are not in the Yacht Club category, those travelers will be excluded from certain experiences on board.
A note on the Yacht Club Interior Suite. Although a luxury inside stateroom may seem like an unusual offering, these rooms are a popular option for multi-generational groups. They provide a lower-priced option for additional family members to enjoy the same exclusive spaces, dining venues, and services as guests staying in the larger suites.
