Norwegian cruise operator Havila Voyages has appointed Melinda Martinez as its business development manager for North America, the first time the company has dedicated someone to the region. She will spearhead efforts to create strategic partnerships in the U.S. and Canada, and accelerate growth for the coastal cruise line.
According to Havila, demand from North American travelers for its Norwegian coastal voyages has grown “significantly” in recent years, making the region one of its “most important and fastest-growing markets.”
This momentum has created an opportunity for the line to invest in dedicated sales and guest services teams across the U.S. and Canada.
“Melinda’s extensive experience developing strategic partnerships and growing businesses across the travel industry, combined with her passion for authentic travel experiences, makes her the ideal person to strengthen our relationship with trade partners and help introduce more travelers to the unique Havila Voyages experience,” said Matthew Valentine, global head of sales for Havila Voyages. “We are confident in her ability to drive successful initiatives and lead the growing team as we generate a deeper awareness and growth in bookings for the North America region.”
In her new role, Martinez will lead business development efforts in the U.S. and Canada, cultivating strategic partnerships with travel advisors, host agencies, tour operators, consortiums, and key industry stakeholders. She will focus on increasing awareness of Havila Voyages’ coastal experiences while supporting the brand’s continued commercial growth in one of its fastest-growing international markets.
Martinez brings extensive experience spanning the travel, hospitality, and technology sectors, with a deep understanding of the North American market and the evolving needs of today’s travelers.
