Hurtigruten, which is best known for its north- and southbound cruises along coastal Norway is expanding its tours portfolio with the addition of three new tours, including the brand’s first visit to Iceland, specifically for North American travelers.
“Hurtigruten has been the destination immersion experience for Norway, and now travelers can extend that experience with amazing tour options…” said Carly Biggart, head of Hurtigruten Americas. “Whether you want to see the Northern Lights in as many places as possible, as with our best-seller Follow the Lights, or chase the Midnight Sun across the Nordics, Hurtigruten truly has something for everyone,” said Carly Biggart, Head of Hurtigruten Americas.
The first new tour, the Grand Nordic Adventure, is a 19-day land and sea journey encompassing Norway, Finland, and – in a first for Hurtigruten – Iceland. The guide tour portion of the journey starts in Helsinki and includes a rail trip across Finland, a stay at the Santa Claus hotel, hiking with huskies, and learning about the Sámi people. This is followed by a six-day Southbound Hurtigruten Coastal Express cruise from Kirkenes down to Bergen, then a flight to Iceland for a second guided tour that includes Reykjavik, the Blue Lagoon, waterfalls, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Þingvellir National Park.
The second new tour, Nordic Winter Journey, comprises a land visit to remote Finnish Lapland to see the Northern Lights and stay at a remote camp resort. Winter adventures will also include snowmobiling, snowshoeing, and sleigh rides. The 13-day guided tour and cruise adventure also explores Sámi heritage, visits Inari and the SIIDA Museum, cruises the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord, and includes a ride on the world-famous Flåm Railway, as well as the a Southbound Hurtigruten Coastal Express cruise.
The third option is the summer-time Norway’s Capital and Cost tour that combines time in Oslo with a six-day Southbound Hurtigruten Coastal Express cruises. A selection of Norway’s eight World Heritage sites are included along the route.
