Princess Cruises Releases Name of Upcoming Ship

Princess Cruises’ fifth ship in its Royal Class will be named Enchanted Princess, the cruise line announced today.

The ship, scheduled to come into service in 2020, will follow the debut of Sky Princess next year; it will join Royal Princess, which entered service in 2013; and Regal Princess, which did the same in 2014 — all in the Royal Class. The last ship in the Royal Class will debut in 2022.

The 3,660-passenger Enchanted Princess is expected to debut with a season of European sailings starting on June 15, 2020. Bookings are now open.

“The name Enchanted Princess is captivating and conveys the elegance and grace of our new ship, which will introduce more travelers to the pleasures and value of cruising,” said Jan Swartz, president of Princess Cruises, in a press release. “We are certain Enchanted Princess will exceed the expectations of our guests, ensuring they have the most memorable cruise vacation.”

Princess last month announced it will build two additional ships in the Royal Class. Those ships will debut at 175,000 gross tons and will each carry 4,300 guests — larger than Majestic Princess.

Princess said the ships will be the first in its fleet to be dual-fuel powered, using LNG technology and “the world’s cleanest burning fossil fuel.” More information for both ships, including hardware details and ship names, will be released at a later time.
