Royal Caribbean Announces Plans for ‘Perfect Day’ Private Island at Lelepa
by Daniel McCarthy /Royal Caribbean is taking its “Perfect Day” Island Collection to Australia.
The cruise line announced this week that it will officially launch Perfect Day at Lelepa, Vanuatu in the South Pacific as the next of its private island destination series that was initiated with Perfect Day at CocoCay earlier this year.
The Lelepa edition will debut with a heavy focus on the area’s “natural ecological beauty and diverse local culture of the island nation,” Royal Caribbean said in a press release. All construction taking place at Lelepa will be done with sustainability in mind.
The island is also set to be the first carbon-neutral cruise line private destination in the world.
“We believe our destinations should be sustainably designed,” said Michael Bayley, Royal Caribbean International’s president and CEO said. “That idea goes beyond simply protecting the ecological features of Lelepa, and includes showing respect for the people and traditions that make this a special place.”
“Anyone who has encountered the tremendous natural beauty of Lelepa can understand why it is the perfect setting for ‘Perfect Day.’ Our guests who travel to the South Pacific are seeking authentic adventures and genuine relaxation, and they will find both here,” he added.
When Royal Caribbean initially announced plans for Perfect Day at CocoCay, it did so with the intention of expanding the collection to Asia, Australia, and elsewhere in the Caribbean. There is no timetable on the other locations, but Royal did announce that Perfect Day at Lelepa is expected to open sometime in 2022.
