Royal Caribbean Cancels Three Oasis of the Seas Sailings After Crane Accident

Oasis of the Seas was undergoing a bow-to-stern transformation, as part of the “Royal Amplified” fleet renovation project.
After a crane damaged Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas, the cruise line said it has canceled the ship’s April 7, 14, and 21 sailings out of Port Canaveral in order to complete the interrupted dry dock.
Oasis of the Seas suffered damages to the Aqua Theatre and some suites when a construction crane fell onto the ship in Grand Bahama shipyard on Monday. The 5,400-passenger vessel was undergoing a bow-to-stern transformation, as part of the “Royal Amplified” fleet renovation project.
Guests on the three sailings will receive full refunds, as well as full credit toward a future cruise, Royal Caribbean told Travel Market Report.
In a message to passengers, the cruise line also said passengers will be reimbursed for non-refundable airline change fees, up to $200 per guest for domestic flights and up to $400 per guest for international flights. All pre-paid amenities, packages, and shore excursions will be refunded as well.
Oasis of the Seas will head from the shipyard in Freeport, Bahamas to be serviced at facilities in Cadiz, Spain. It will then resume her scheduled itineraries, beginning with the May 5 sailing from Barcelona.
