We just returned from Norwegian Luna’s inaugural sailing from Miami to Great Stirrup Cay, the Bahamas, and saw much of what the brand-new Norwegian Cruise Line ship has to offer. The Prima Plus class vessel is a full cosmos-themed experience, mostly similar to its sister ship, Norwegian Aqua, but taken up just a notch.
From the standout Indulge Food Hall and specialty dining venues, to the expanded gaming areas that were a Prima Plus addition, to new performances, and lots in between, travel advisors we spoke to onboard all agreed that Norwegian Luna is a slam dunk for multi-generational families – and not just in the Glow Court.
Here are three things that make Norwegian Luna a particularly great choice for your cruise clients’ next voyage.
There’s plenty of space

Norwegian Luna is the same size as Norwegian Aqua (3,565 guest capacity); however, NCL made some small layout changes. Staircases leading from Surfside Cafe & Grill (the buffet) on Deck 17 to Luna Game Zone on Deck 18 now provide easier access, a piece of feedback NCL took from customers. There are also 70 additional seats in the buffet to accommodate more guests for each meal.
Still, the ship offers plenty of space from the showers inside the cabins – which one travel advisor told us are larger than on most other ships – to the lounging areas. We especially enjoyed the outdoor lounge on Deck 8, where there are small pools, cozy loungers, and a special Norwegian Luna photo op, away from the energy of the main pool.
The Local Bar & Grill, an elevated sports bar also on Deck 8, was another spacious spot. There was plenty of seating around this area leading up to the Indulge Food Hall, as well as on Decks 6 and 7, that all made the ship feel that more comfortable.
The addition of Horizon Park on Norwegian Luna also helped to space out the gaming areas and leave more room for families to play together. Horizon Park features the Glow Court, lawn games, and even more seating with views on Deck 19.
Innovative entertainment abounds

Known for its entertainment, NCL continues to deliver cutting edge performances. The debuts of “Rocket Man: A Celebration of Elton John” and “HIKO: Innovation Meets Wonder” impressed audiences on the inaugural sailing, and heavy use of special effects brough both shows to the next level.
Another new show that we experienced onboard was “LunaTique: Pop Circus,” a 21+ only, burlesque-inspired experience. Expect to be served four sweet cocktails in 45 minutes and a barrage of dirty jokes – great for groups of adults traveling together, looking to sing along to modern pop hits and have some laughs.
Families will also keep entertained not only at Horizon Park, but at the Tee Time around-the-world mini gold course, carnival games at Luna Midway, and especially at Luna Game Zone, an arcade that has even more variety of games on Norwegian Luna.
Luna Game Zone has a mix of classic and modern arcade games, two bowling lanes, a billiards table, and about a dozen chairs with virtual reality headset games – so there’s something for gamers of all kinds here. Though that sounds like a lot, the layout is spacious enough that there’s even room for a seating area inside.
Everything feels elevated

NCL continues to elevate its product, and that shines in both the hardware and experience on Norwegian Luna.
All physical spaces appear elevated, made for premium clientele approaching luxury but casual enough that there’s no need to dress up every night. The seats are all stylish yet super comfortable, and public spaces subtly incorporate the Luna-inspired cosmos theme while feeling a cut above.
That includes the Mandara Spa, by the way, which is impressive in its own right. We had a thermal suite pass for the day and enjoyed how quiet, serene, and dark yet visually pleasing it all was – a true world of its own. The thermal lounge is the most relaxing spot on the ship, with great views while at sea.
Each of the specialty restaurants also have their own unique identity, in both interior design and atmosphere. We dined at Los Lobos for dinner one night, and a chef made us guacamole right at the table. Whether it’s at Tee Time, the spa, or a specialty restaurant, each space on the ship offered a dedicated service and experience, which led to Norwegian Luna feeling like an overall elevated cruise product.
