Kuwait Airways Stops Route After DOT Warning
Kuwait Airways will no longer fly its New York-to-London route after criticism from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT).
After Kuwait refused to sell a ticket to an Israeli citizen in 2013, the DOT warned the airline that it must allow Israeli citizens to fly between the U.S. and other countries that accepts Israeli passports or face disciplinary action.
The airline insists that it doesn’t discriminate against travelers carrying Israeli passports, though the passports are invalid in Kuwait. Still, it made the decision to stop the route to avoid any further trouble with the DOT.
