Travelers to Brazil from the United States and Canada have another year before they’ll need a new visa. The program has been delayed to a start date of April 10, 2025.

Brazil’s new visa requirement for U.S. and Canada passport holders has been pushed back at least twice now. It was first set to take effect on Jan. 10, 2024, then was meant to launch April 10, 2024, and has now been pushed a whole year.

The new visa, which is valid for stays of up to 90 days, will cost North American travelers $80.90 USD per person and will be valid for five years for Canadians and 10 years for citizens of the United States.

Brazil initially announced the new short-term visa in 2023 and launched a website and platform for travelers to obtain their visas. The application requires a valid passport, a completed visa application form, a passport-style photo, flight confirmation, and a printed bank statement showing transactions for the last 30 days and showing at least $2,000 USD for travel.
