Disney’s New Star Wars Ride Opens Later This Year
by Daine Taylor /Star Wars fans rejoice! Disney’s new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park is set to get its second ride before the year is up.
Disney Parks made an announcement this week that the much-anticipated Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will arrive at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida on Dec. 5, just in time for Walt Disney’s birthday. Immediately after the ride debuts in Florida, the team will head to California, where they will unveil it at Disneyland Resort on Jan. 17, 2020.
Visitors will get to join Rey and General Organa at a secret base, where they will be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer; and with the help of Resistance heroes, they’ll break out, protect the base, and stay a step ahead of the villainous Kylo Ren.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will “blur the lines between fantasy and reality,” announced Disney Parks in a blog post.
Galaxy’s Edge first opened this past May, and currently, its only ride is the Millennium Falcon: Smuggler’s Run.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance was promised as another premier ride, and Disney previously described it as “the biggest and most immersive Disney Parks attraction ever.” With these two rides in place, the park is beginning to take shape.
