Hong Kong is a City That Shines Brightest at Night

Bask in the glow of the neon lights on a captivating trip to Hong Kong, a city that truly comes alive once the sun sets. A recent renaissance has HK built back better than ever before, with arrivals surpassing 26 million tourists as of October 2023.

What continues to draw travelers to the city? A burgeoning arts scene, a haven for culinary enthusiasts, a full calendar of international events and of course a buzzing buffet of nightlife attracts every type of tourist. Adding to that, more than a dozen new glamorous hotels have opened in the past few years to accommodate the influx of eager visitors.

Clients looking to book a destination that truly has it all in 2024 can look no further than Hong Kong. Fueled by jet lag or a serious intention to see and do it all, exploring this vibrant city by night is a thrilling adventure and a unique way to experience the sights. The following are a few suggestions to pique clients’ interest in Hong Kong and its 24/7/365 appeal.

2024 Events After Dark
Chinese New Year: Ushering in the Year of the Dragon, the 2024 Lunar New Year takes place on February 10 with festivities starting on the 8th.  Also known as Spring Festival, this massive global holiday is celebrated in Hong Kong with an elaborate International Parade featuring floats, dancers, music, and of course Chinese dragons along the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui and impressive fireworks display over Victoria Harbor.

Hong Kong Night Treats: Travelers can obtain an HK$100 dining voucher called “Hong Kong Night Treats,” which is redeemable at select bars and restaurants after 6 p.m. Now through March 2024, visitors looking for a late-night bite can enjoy a snack on the house at more than 220 participating retailers, from local chains to KFC and Shake Shack. Clients can look for these cards at the Hong Kong airport, West Kowloon rail station, TST Star Ferry Pier and more locations around the city.

Art Basel: As one of the largest contemporary art fairs in the world, Art Basel has a prestigious intercontinental fanbase. Sandwiched between annual stints in Miami Beach and Basel, Switzerland, artists, collectors and exhibits arrive in Hong Kong. Held March 28-30, 2024, Art Basel Hong Kong will focus on emerging modern artists in the Asia-Pacific region. Attendees can expect to discover works from leading galleries; view sight-specific art installations; attend a film program or discussion between members of the art world; and admire large-scale projects in a sector of the fair called “Encounters.” Art Basel events run day and night.

Rooftop Barhopping: Way above the city is an exclusive atmosphere that includes some masterful cocktails along with unforgettable views of the skyline aglow at night. We’re talking about some of HK’s absolute best rooftop bars, which pair high rises with some serious libations. Check out swanky Popinjays perched at the top of The Murray, a Niccolo Hotel. Helmed by British-born chef Lexine Hepworth, guests to Popinjays can expect afternoon teas in the main dining room by day and an extensive list of gin and tonics on the terrace by night. Or head to Cruise, a sleek bar and restaurant overlooking Victoria Harbor at the Hyatt Centric. Come for sunset and stay for a feast of the chef’s six favorite Asian-inspired dishes, ending with a round of shots.

A Symphony of Lights: if you happen to be gazing over the harbor at night, you might encounter the spectacular, nightly light and sound show called “A Symphony of Lights.” Each evening at 8 p.m., onlookers can admire the display over Victoria Harbor, which incorporates a dazzling array of colorful lights synchronized to music.

Where to Rest Your Head
When the night has finally ended, visitors will want to wake up refreshed in one of Hong Kong’s many top hotels. With 15 properties opened in the last four years, there are plenty of luxe new offerings to host your clients during their stay in Hong Kong.

Among the newly christened hotels is the Rosewood Hong Kong, which has already been ranked the second-best hotel in the world, according to the 2023 “50 Best” list. Hotel interiors have been masterfully approached by Taiwanese-born designer Tony Chi, while immaculate waterfront views from the center of the Victoria Dockside arts and design district greet guests from every vantage point.

Other options to consider include the Silveri Hong Kong — McGallery, located just five minutes from Hong Kong International Airport, for loyal Accor Hotels members. The newly reopened Regent Hong Kong is a beacon of luxury in Kowloon, boasting the return of Japanese-Peruvian culinary legend Nobu Hong Kong.

Or suggest something entirely new, with the first Fullerton resort. Located on the South China Sea, the Fullerton Ocean Park Hotel is a tranquil oceanfront property with 425 rooms, all built with sustainability in mind. Families can delight in rooms with themes from safaris or dinosaurs to mermaids or unicorns.
