Send us your red-eyed fliers, your nursing mothers, your just-plain-curious tourists yearning to see the inside of The Pierre. A new app has launched in Manhattan, and it lets travelers rent a hotel room by the minute.

The service, called Recharge, has 16 four- and five-star hotel partners in New York, including the Knickerbocker and the W New York, and 13 in San Francisco (see list below). Talks with prospective partners in New York are ongoing, and the company expects to add more in coming weeks, an insider said.

Room rates are set by the hotels, but the site says one Manhattan property rents for $50/hour, or less than $1 a minute. There is no minimum stay, but the average guest checks in for approximately two hours, the site says.

Like at Uber in its early days, guests go on the app and choose a property when they are ready to book; the app does take future reservations.
