Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism made a splash in Times Square last week to celebrate New York as the No. 1 source market in 2024.

Nearly 1 million New York tourists visited the Dominican Republic this year, a significant portion of the record-breaking 11 million visitors that the destination predicts to hit by the end of the year.

Travel advisors were much to thank for the successful year in tourism for the ever-popular Caribbean country. DO Travel Rewards, the destination’s travel agent program, invited its New York members for an exclusive meeting with Rebeca del Pino, director of strategic partnerships, and congratulated the Top Bookers of New York.

The celebration also included an activation in Times Square, which invited passersby to experience some Dominican Republic delights, including Inaru Valley chocolate and limonacla coco (coconut lemonade), and see live entertainment.

In 2025, the Dominican Republic will welcome several new resorts, especially in the up-and-coming Miches region. Zemi Miches All-Inclusive Resort, part of Hilton’s Curio Collection, will open March 20, 2025. Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana opens April 1, 2025.
