The first of Sabre’s New Distribution Capability (NDC) have been officially launched with United Airlines, Sabre announced on Tuesday.

The news means that United is the first major airline to launch with the NDC capabilities and it also means that NDC is now on track to become an industry standard for travel agencies, airlines, and travelers.

“United is thrilled to be the first airline to partner with Sabre to offer NDC capabilities through their booking platform as we continue to advance the travel industry,” said Dave Bartels, vice president of revenue management for United Airlines.

With NDC, which is Sabre’s program for improving Sabre for airlines, travel agencies and consumers, United is able to offer its advisors new fare options and additional flight amenities.

Other partners, which are expected to launch NDC capabilities in the future include American Airlines, American Express Global Business Travel, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, and Flight Centre Travel Group.
