Tripadvisor Releases 2026 Top Traveller Experiences

Tripadvisor Releases 2026 Top Traveller Experiences

Tripadvisor has unveiled its 2026 Travellers’ Choice “Best of the Best Things to Do” awards, spotlighting the highest-rated experiences globally based on millions of traveller reviews, giving Canadian travel advisors a view of what destinations and experiences are resonating with clients.

Leading the way for the second time since topping the list in 2024 is The Unvanquished Tour in Porto, Portugal. The immersive walking tour reflects a broader trend toward experiences that connect travellers with local culture, history and cuisine. That theme is consistent across the top global winners, which include standout experiences in Japan, Spain, the Netherlands and Peru, ranging from a Hiroshima and Miyajima day tour to a four-day Inca Trail trek to Machu Picchu.

Europe continues to dominate the global list, reinforcing its strong appeal among long-haul travellers, while Asia and South America also feature prominently, aligning with growing Canadian demand for experiential, culturally rich travel.

In the “Once in a Lifetime” category, snorkelling between tectonic plates in Iceland ranked No. 1 globally, underscoring the continued demand for unique, bucket-list experiences that go beyond traditional sightseeing.

Tripadvisor also highlighted top global attractions, with icons such as Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia, the Eiffel Tower in Paris and Gardens by the Bay in Singapore ranking among the most visited and highly rated, alongside lesser-known draws like Cayman Crystal Caves.

According to Tripadvisor, this year’s winners reflect a shift toward experiences that deliver deeper meaning and connection. Rather than simply filling itineraries, travellers are prioritizing activities that offer a stronger sense of place.
