Loews Hotels & Co on Monday announced that Alex Tisch, who has been serving as the company’s president since Sept. 2020, will take over as CEO starting on Jan. 1, 2023.

In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of Loews, along with the development and execution of its strategy and capital management.

Tisch will take over from Jonathan Tisch, the current CEO, who will now become executive chairman and remain a member of the Office of the President and Co-Chairman of the Board.

“Since joining Loews Hotels & Co, Alex has not only brought a strong strategic lens to the acquisitions & development and commercial disciplines, but also cultivated successful strategic partnerships internally and externally,” said Jonathan Tisch, current Chairman & CEO, Loews Hotels & Co.

“As we look ahead, under Alex’s leadership and direction, Loews Hotels & Co will continue to be a leader within the industry and strive to be an employer of choice amongst our team members.”

Since joining Loews in 2017 and then serving as president since Sept. 2020, Alex Tisch has played a role in the growth of the Loews portfolio, including Live! by Loews – Arlington, TX in 2019, Live! by Loews – St. Louis, MO in 2020, Universal’s Endless Summer Resort, in 2020 and Loews Kansas City, in 2020.

The company also has two more hotels in the pipeline—Loews Coral Gables, which opens this week, and Loews Arlington Hotel, an 888-room property set to open in Q1 of 2024.

Outside of his role with Loews, Alex Tisch also sits on the Board of Directors of the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA), The National Medal of Honor Museum, Moda Operandi, and the New York City Police Foundation.
