Budget-Minded Hotel Options Planned for Universal Orlando

Universal Orlando Resort revealed this week it has two budget-friendly hotels in the works, starting at less than $100 a night, set to open in summer 2019.

The hotels will be “value-driven,” the company said, adding that rates will be less than Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort and Universal’s Aventura Hotel.

In partnership with Loews Hotels & Resorts, the 750-room and 2,050-room hotels will be built on a 64-acre site at the intersection of International Drive and Universal Boulevard, formerly the Wet ’n Wild water-park land.

The hotel complex will feature three pools, two food courts, coffee bars, poolside bars, fitness rooms, and car rental facilities. Offering a “laid-back coastal feel,” the hotels will be outfitted with “towering exterior murals with vibrant and natural colors that will set a free-spirited and beachy tone.”

Visitors staying at the resorts will get early admission to Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and Volcano Bay, as well as complimentary transportation between parks.

Once completed, Universal Orlando will bring its on-site hotel offerings up to eight, with a total number of 9,000 guestrooms when combined with the 600-room Universal’s Aventura Hotel opening in August 2018.

The hotels will begin taking reservations in 2018.
