EF Adventures has announced the addition of three solo traveler departures for its most popular hiking, biking, and multi-adventure itineraries across Spain and Portugal.
Solo travel is on the rise. One report from Grand View Research predicts the solo travel market to be worth more than $1 trillion by 2030. In response to this incraesed demand, EF Adventures is testing solo travel with these new tours, before a broader rollout.
The solo tours being offered in 2027 include Spain Biking for Solo Travelers: Island of Mallorca, Spain & Portugal Hiking for Solo Travelers: Camino de Santiago, and Portugal Multi-Adventure for Solo Travelers: Algarve & Alentejo. All three departures are now available for booking.
Rather than develop new tours, solo travelers on these departures will get the same expert-led itinerary as the existing tours, but with the added benefit of private rooms in all accommodations.
“We have watched solo travelers quietly become a meaningful share of our bookings for years — people who are adventurous, prioritize wellness, curious about other cultures, and eager to connect with others on the road,” said a spokesperson for EF Adventures. “The launch of these test solo tours is our way of listening to that demand more intentionally. We’re not overhauling anything — we’re creating space specifically for solo travelers within itineraries we already believe in deeply and using these departures to learn what this audience truly wants in a community during a guided adventure experience.”
The active tour operator is the latest EF World Journeys brand to roll out solo departures. Both sister brands EF Go Ahead Tours and EF Ultimate Break have offered solo departures.
