EF Ultimate Break Launches ‘BookTok’ Collection: Travel Inspired by Viral Books

EF Ultimate Break has launched a new travel collection inspired by BookTok, an online community of literary fans who share content about books on TikTok.

EF Ultimate Break’s latest study, “The State of Gen Z & Millennial Travel, Volume II,” identified BookTok tourism as an emerging travel category, similar to tours designed for TV and movie lovers. The survey found 4 in 10 young-adult travelers participate in book clubs, and 62% of those reported interest in visiting destinations they’ve read about in novels.

EF Ultimate Break, which specializes in curating travel experiences for 18- to 35-year-olds, has created a line of BookTok trips to meet this demand. The new itineraries feature immersive elements and activities geared to book-lovers, such as guided book club discussions, themed experiences, and location-visits tied to literary source material.

The new BookTok tours can be enjoyed as part of a scheduled departure group, which averages around 30 travelers, or as a private group tour—perfect for book clubs.

“We’re seeing a shift toward young people seeking out more meaningful travel experiences where they can connect face-to-face around their shared interests,” said Heather Leisman, president, EF Ultimate Break. “Our new BookTok-inspired trips give travelers the chance to turn those online conversations into real-world friendships while exploring the places that bring their favorite stories to life.”

EF Ultimate Break’s BookTok-Inspired Trips

The new BookTok trips include:

  • Cairo, Athens & Rome, Inspired by Percy Jackson: An 11-day Mediterranean odyssey following the mythological footsteps of Rick Riordan’s beloved series. Stand in awe before the towering Pyramids of Giza, climb to the Parthenon where Athena keeps watch, and walk through the Roman Forum where heroes once trained.
  • Highlights of Switzerland, Inspired by A Court of Thorns and Roses: A nine-day alpine adventure through Sarah J. Maas’s Prythian-inspired landscapes. Cross glacier suspension bridges like Illyrian warriors, explore castle corridors where shadows linger, and dine at themed Starfall dinners in the “Night Court” of Zermatt.
  • Cruise Croatia, Inspired by People We Meet on Vacation: A 10-day Adriatic adventure aboard a private ship, channeling Emily Henry’s sun-soaked romance. Island-hop from Split to Dubrovnik, share stories with fellow book lovers under Mediterranean stars, and create your own vacation memories. Because according to Emily Henry, “the best part of vacation is all the things you don’t plan.”
